CTMH: September Stamp-of-the-Month Blog Hop, Looking Toward Christmas

Hello and welcome to another Stamp-of-the-Month blog hop!  If you arrived from Brae's blog, you're on the right track.  If you're starting here, just keep hopping until you get back and you'll have feasted your eyes on all the inspiring artwork we've created for you.

I'm writing this post while at the cottage.  We've been enjoying a relaxing week at Trent River Cottages.  But I did bring along some crafting!

This month's stamp set includes two large images.  I don't have a picture of the stamp set here, but I'm sure you've seen it on other blogs along the way.  They make me think of the popular subway art that you see all over the place.  I didn't have a whole lot of product with me, just the Frosted Card-making Workshop-on-the-Go and some shimmer trim.  The third pattern in the kit had the perfect spot for this stamp set.  Here's what I created:

I followed the instructions given in the kit to create the card, but added a bit of red Shimmer Trim.  I stamped the image in Ruby on a smaller piece of cardstock and trimmed around it to just get the part that fit well with the design.  Then I stamped it again in Twilight, trimming out the word "Joy" and popped it on top.   Here's a close up of the layers and the fun bling that comes in the kit:

And here is a close up of the awesome baker's twine that's included as well.  Love the sparkle in it!

Now it's time to hop on over to the other Krista's blog and check out what she's created with this stamp set.  Will it be autumn or winter?  Can't wait to see!

Happy Creating!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #18: You're A Star

Welcome to another week and another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  We're on number 18.  Here is the sketch:

I love the flexibility of this sketch.  Even though there are flowers on it, I got thinking about something else.  Here is my card:

I decided I was going to use some of my vast supply of Washi Tape for this card.  I have collected quite a few, but seldom use it.  Not anymore!  I cut the stars and the sentiment from Black Glitter paper with the Artbooking cartridge.  Totally loving the glitter paper lately!  The sentiment was actually melded together in Cricut Craft Room.  Here's a close up of the glitter.

I actually cut the sentiment too large at first and I had 5 stars but they just didn't look right.  I didn't want to throw them out, and I needed a second card, so I made this one:

It's based on the same sketch, but very loosely.  I trimmed down my last star so it would look better on the card.

The washi tape is from Michaels and an online daily deal from Pick Your Plum.  Here are the rest of my supplies:

Cross Canada Hop: We're Getting "Krafty"!

Welcome to another Cross Canada Hop!  This month we're focusing on all the fabulous Kraft products Close To My Heart now sells.  You might see projects made with the Kraft Container, Ring Box, Pocket Album or 3-Ring Album.

If you came from Arlene's blog, you're on the right track.  If you would like to literally hop across our great county, start over at Michelle's blog.  You can keep going until you get back to where you started since this is a cyclical hop.

I used the 3-Ring Album for my project.  For some reason this was a hard one for me.  I kept thinking of all these ideas, but didn't have any photos to use.  Then I asked on my Facebook page and they came up with some really great ideas, including 10 years of wedded bliss since we just celebrated our 10th anniversary this past weekend, but I already had a project in mind for that one.  In the end, it was Michelle who juggled something in my brain and suggested a sports theme.  I realized I hadn't done anything with my kids' soccer photos from last year, so that's what I'm doing.  Here is my album cover:

The colours that most matched the kids' shirts was Honey and the photos have a lot of fun green colours, so I added in some Pear and Topiary, along with Black Glitter paper.  Everything but the SPARK banner were cut with Artbooking. The sports themed images are on pages 82 and 83 of the booklet.  Here are some more details:

The banner was an Artiste image.  I layered the letters and periods over it in Cricut Craft Room, then re-sized it to fit my project.  Then I cut a second banner to layer underneath it.  Isn't that glitter paper just awesome?!?

I want to highlight this banner.  I didn't have black sparkles so I just got my Sharpie and coloured some clear ones!  They're not as sparkly as they were before, but they really finish it off.

Now I can't wait to use Artbooking to make lots of 8x8 mini-album pages to go inside.  I will definitely post them when they're done.

Now, hop on over to Sheri's blog and check out what she made with the Ring Box!

Here is my supply list:

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #16: Thanks

Welcome to another week with Atlantic Hearts!  We had a fun sketch to work with this week.  Here it is:

I decided to turn it and here is what I came up with:

Please forgive the quality of my photos.  Our card reader has gone AWOL so I had to use my cell phone to take these.
I went deep in the recesses of my stash to pull out some really old neutral papers.  These patterns came from It's a Guy Thing, Grace and Game On.  I used a Kraft cardstock base and edged everything with Desert Sand ink and a sponge.  Yup, my favourite technique comes out again!  The flower is layered.  It's two different sizes of Maya Road flowers I bought eons ago at Michaels.  I used some leaves from some old CTMH flowers, can't even remember what set they're from.  Then I added a Mocha Opaque.  The sentiment is stamped in Cocoa ink from Card Word Puzzle.

Here's another one, same paper.  I used two flowers from the same set and instead of the leaves, I cut apart a green flower and added some Olive ink to it.  The sentiment is stamped in Cocoa again, from a retired set called Thank You.  Personally, I like this on better.  :)

Thanks for checking out these quick and easy cards.  Pop on back to Atlantic Hearts and link up your project using this week's sketch.  I'd love to see what you do with it!

Happy Creating!
