Moxie Fab and Atlantic Hearts, A Just For Fun Card

Browsing through Bloglovin' a photo on the Moxie Fab blog caught my eye.  The inspiration photo for the Fabulous Friday Challenge: Trendy Triangles was one I had seen before.

It was from the Close To My Heart corporate Instagram Feed!  Those are colours I know well and I had the exact tool they used to create those sweet triangles.  I knew I had to play along.

I also loved the sketch at Atlantic Hearts this week.

So I used it as a starting point.  

Here is my card:

I punched the bottom edge with the new Triangle Border Punch.  I also punched some triangles from the six colours in the inspiration photo: Pear, Thistle, Lagoon, Flaxen, Pixie, and Smoothie.  I sort of dropped them on the card base and then arranged them a bit until I was happy.  Each triangle is glued down with a Bonding Memories Glue Pen.  The sentiment, stamped in Black, is from Have a Happy Day.  And then because I thought it needed some bling, I added some Stardust Glitz Gel (retired) on each little triangle.  Here's a close up of that sparkle.  :)

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #12: Viva Flower card

Hello and welcome to another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  This week we have a beautiful sketch to work with!  Here it is:

I had been working on the layouts the corporate office prepared for us for convention and still had our exclusive paper pack and stamp set on my desk, so I decided to use them for my card.  I was very happy that we still had some paper left over because it's so fun!  Here's my card:

I used Sunset cardstock to mat both the Juniper paper and the main image.  The flower is inked in Sunset and rolled in Cranberry before stamping.  That's one of my favourite stamping techniques!  The leaf is stamped in Juniper.  I added a strip of our new Bronze Shimmer Trim instead of ribbon and a smattering of Brown and Tan Sparkles.  Here's a close up of the flower:

You can see that I popped the flower.  The silver flower in the middle is from our new Base and Bling Floral Accents.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #11: You Light Up My Life card

Well, I have my stuff back up on shelves, but I still need to buy some baskets and shelves and doors, so I'm not ready to reveal my new updated craft studio yet.  But, in the mean time, I have been able to get some crafting done!  Yay!

Here is the Atlantic Hearts sketch for this week:

It's absolutely perfect for that ombre trend that I seem to see everywhere!  I stuck very close to the sketch and the simplicity of it.  Here is my card:

I dug into my cardstock and found four yellow colours and just lined them up.  From top to bottom, they are Vanilla Cream (retired), Buttercup, Creme Brulee, and Sunflower (retired).  And here's a close up of the stamped images:

"I don't recognize those" you say?  Well, that's because they are from the upcoming November Stamp-of-the-Month called Illuminate.  You are going to love that stamp set!  I stamped the sentiment in Black and the little light circle in Sunflower (retired).

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #6: JK Layout

It's time for another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  This week's sketch is so fun.

Isn't it great?  I love the possibilities with this one and I can't wait to see what you do with it.  

For my project, I went a little different, with a layout!

This layout came together in about an hour.  I used only stickers, washi tape, paper and epoxy bubbles, along with a bit of ink for edging.  You can see my supply list below, although I don't know where I got the green polka-dot washi tape.

The photo above shows my little journaling tag that hides behind the photo.  The photo is popped up with 3-D Foam Tape to create a pocket.

And here is a close up of the "circles" or gears from the Later Sk8r My Stickease.  Isn't that journaling just perfect?  It fits Nathaniel very well.  I love how this turned out.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge: Bee Yourself

I had fun with this sketch and gave myself another challenge as well.  I had these supplies out to prep for my sprouting card and told myself I was only allowed to use those.  I did pull out the In The Background stamp set as well.  The main image across the card has been sponged in different places with daubers, then I huffed on it to make the ink nice and juicy again before I stamped.  I trimmed out the middle section to pop up and added some embellishments.  Here's a close up of the middle:

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge: Quick Mother's Day Card

I'd been thinking of entering this sketch challenge as soon as it was posted on Monday, but I had a big surprise party to plan for my hubby, my little buddy got sick, and I have another appearance on daytime Durham on Tuesday to prep for.  But this afternoon I decided a half hour before supper to make a card anyway!

Atlantic Hearts is a brand new sketch challenge blog and it's all Canadian!  That doesn't mean you have to be Canadian to enter, though.  Make sure to go check out the other entries.

I was working with Claire and had a bunch of scraps on my desk, so I used those.  I glued all the strips, except the bottom one onto a piece of 4x4 cardstock, then sponged around the edges.  Then I tied a on a piece of Baker's Twine.  You can't really see it in the photo, but this panel is popped up.  I sponged the bottom piece, gluing it directly to my card front and stamping my sentiment in Outdoor Denim.  I added some Sparkles and I was done!  I chose to do a Mother's Day card because of the project I was working on before I made this card.  But you'll have to wait to see it.  ;)

Flower Challenge from the Ribbon Carousel

As soon as I saw this challenge at the Ribbon Carousel, I knew I had a layout, I just finished that fit perfectly!

Here is my layout:

It is again, a special photo.  The journaling reads: "A graduation flower from Art Smit, given to honour the impact I had on him while at ICS.  Humbling.  Touching.  A very precious gift."

Each year the grade 8 students where I used to teach, as part of their graduation ceremony, give a rose to someone who has had the most impact or has been the most important to them while they were students.  This student gave me their rose.  He was in my class for two years and had a number of different issues.  We struggled through a number of things together.  For that reason, he holds a special place in my heart, and therefore this rose is so very special. (I'm on the verge of tears as I type this!)  I knew I had to give special treatment to this photo.  Now that I'm not teaching any more, I want to remember how special my job was.

I made the flowers with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, cutting them from Colonial White cardstock, inking them with Sunset ink and my sponge dauber before rolling them up.  Here is a close up.

The above sparkle flourish actually fell on my layout while I was taking it off the carrier sheet.  It didn't land where I had planned, but I was forced to work with it because I couldn't move it.  I do love how it all turned out, despite my oopsie!

Heart-2-Heart Challenge

I had so much fun with the Ribbon Carousel challenge that I had to try another one.  I may be too late to really be a part of it, but I'm posting anyway.

The Heart-2-Heart challenge this past week was a sketch.

I had a hard time with this and I'm not really sure why.  I picked the paper I wanted to use quickly, but had cut it to get a 5x7 card ready.  None of the images I was looking at seemed to fit into that bottom section.  So I trimmed it down to a standard size and pulled out one of my favourite new stamp sets, one I hadn't even used yet!  This is the card I made:

I did a mirror image of the sketch and pulled the little rectangle at the top down to bring my sentiment closer.  I love how it turned out!  This one is most definitely for my daughter, who loves dinosaurs and the colour blue.

Participating in My First Challenge!

I decided to take the plunge and participate in my first challenge.  It was fun working with the sketch from The Ribbon Carousel!

I have been wanting to do a challenge for a while, but just as I would be ready to sit down and create, the challenge would be over.  So since I had a crop night last night and I had to create some artwork with the new CTMH Dotty For You paper, I took the plunge and did this card:

I used my favourite sheet of paper from the pack, the stitched butterflies.  Aren't they just adorable?  I also added some ink to the butterfly and wooden flower.  When I put the ribbon on, it just seemed to disappear a bit so I ran my sponge over it, too, just a bit.  I used the new Imanginise ribbon cutter (Love it!) to cut the ribbon, perfect cut without fraying.  The flower is popped with some 3-D Foam Tape.
