CTMH October Stamp-of-the-Month Blog Hop: Peace

Welcome to another SOTM blog hop!  Are you ready to start thinking about Christmas?  This month's stamp set is just lovely and will bring a traditional feel to your Christmas projects.

If you arrived here from Dawn's blog, you're on the right track.  If you are starting here, just keep following the links at the end of each blog post and when you get back here, you've seen all the yummy inspiration there is to see.

This is the set for this month, called Scandinavian Wishes.

Notice the red lines around the images?  They can be cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.  How great is that!?!

I've been hanging on to a 6x6 canvas for a while and decided I would use it for this project.  Here's what I created:

I used pigment inks to stamp directly on the canvas.  The main image was sponged with Ruby, Cocoa and Olive.  The sentiment and border was stamped with Cocoa.  I loved how the border was exactly the right length to fit on the canvas.  In order to stamp in the centre, I placed a block underneath and it worked perfectly.  Here's a close up of the centre:

I do have a couple of tips when it comes to stamping with pigment ink on canvas.  If you are going to sponge the ink on a stamp, be sure to go back over the first colour again.  It dries very quickly.  You'll also want to huff a breath on your image before stamping.  I helps to re-moisten the ink.  I also gave the stamp a lot of pressure when I stamped it, way more than I normally would.  I pushed it down on the canvas to sort of encourage it to soak in a bit.

Now, it's time to hop on over to Kathleen's blog and check out what she's made with this fun set.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #22: Too Cool

Hello again!  I'm busy getting ready for my cropping event.  I hold a fundraising crop once or twice a year to raise money for our trips to Central America.  If you've been following my blog for a while, you've read posts about them.  We're heading back to El Salvador in November (more about that in a later post) and so we've got another crop on Saturday.  I love these events.  It's just so much fun!  If you've never attended an all-day crop, you have GOT to go and soon.  I may have some room for you still, so if you're interested, let me know.

Enough about that, on to the Atlantic Hearts sketch for this week.  Here's number 22:

Isn't that a fun one?  Here's the card I made with it:

I was completely inspired by a card I found in one of my Papercrafts issues.  I cut the base and the circle piece on my Cricut.  The circle piece I created in Cricut Craft Room. (Love CCR!)  Before I attached the circle piece I wrapped six different pieces of washi tape around the base. (Adore washi tape!)  The sentiment is stamped in Archival Black ink.  The circle piece is attached with foam tape so it has added dimension.  Here's a close up:

You can see the sparkle I added as well.  That little guy is left over from the new Frosted card kit from Close To My Heart.  The washi tape is from all over.

So, now it's your turn.  Create a card, layout, home decor item, neat little giftie, whatever you'd like using the sketch and link it up here.  You might win a Top Three spot!

Happy Birthday with Washi Tape and Roar!

Today is my son's birthday.  As of 5:30 this evening, he will be 6 years old!  Hard to believe.  He's so fun, most of the time.  ;)

He's my silly, cuddly, expressive, dino- and machine-loving, snuggly, bundle of energy and he's my favourite boy.  Okay, he's my only boy so I can say that.  I love him to bits!  He certainly keeps things interesting in our home.

I made this quick card for him yesterday and popped it in his backpack before he left for school today.

I used strips of washi tape, from lots of different companies, choosing lots of green and all the gray I could find because those are his favourite colours.  The dinosaur is from a stamp set called Roar!  The "ribbon" is two strips of washi folded in half and stapled to the tag, which I popped up.  T-rex is stamped in Topiary and rolled in New England Ivy.  I guess I should have used a different Black ink or waited a bit before I stamped it because it ended up running a bit.  Oh well, my boy won't care.  I'm living with the imperfection.  :)

Now, I'm off to make (or find in my stash) an "official" birthday card and wrap some presents.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch: Your Laughter

We're back with sketch number 20!  Wow, 20 weeks of inspiration and design.  So exciting!  Here is the sketch we're using this week:

It's a fun one, but I had a hard time trying to come up with something I really liked.  I'm glad I took the time because I really LOVE how my card turned out.

I went back to last year's National Scrapbooking Month's promotion, Dotty For You, for the paper.  Still absolutely love it and I've got lots left.  The stamped images come from the Close To My Heart current promotion for National Stamping Month, called You are My Happy.  I stamped the sun and the sentiment in Archival ink and then coloured the sun with the CTMH alcohol markers.  Tied on some Creme Brulee baker's twine and added some Almond Glitz Gel and Tan & Brown sparkles.  Very happy with it.

Now, get crafting.  I'd love to see what you come up with.  Don't forget to link up at Atlantic Hearts.  You may be chosen as top three!
