Cross Canada Blog Hop: Picture My Life

Welcome to another Cross Canada Blog Hop!  If you've arrived here from Nicky at Timeless Cottage, you are on the right track.  If you'd like to literally hop across Canada, you can start at Julie's blog.  The entire list of hoppers can be found here.

This month we're focusing on Picture My Life, the pocket scrapbooking program Close To My Heart introduced in our last catalogue.  But, we're not doing scrapbooking with it, at least not how it was designed. We're going to show you new and different ways to use this program.

I chose to use only the Chantilly PML collections.  Check it out here.  My project sort of came to me while I was looking through all the cards.  They have some wonderfully uplifting sentiments on them, so this little encouragement album came about.

I chose some cards and the order I would put them in, adhering some together if the back of the card didn't work.  I added just two photos and some special messages for my daughter.  I punched a hole in one corner and used some really old Hollyhock and Blush ribbon to a jump ring.  Here are a few more of the pages.

Hop on over to Lucy's blog to see more fun ways you can use PML cards.  Check out the Chantilly PML kit here.  And tune in tomorrow for two more projects with this kit.

Don't forget that this month you can get a pack of page protectors for just $3 when you purchase a PML kit.

Cross Canada Hop: Focus on Artbooking

Welcome to another Cross Canada Blog Hop!  We're featuring Close To My Heart's newest Cricut Collection, Artbooking this month.  I absolutely love this collection.  There are so many possibilities with it and even if you don't want to "outside the booklet" you can create some stunning artwork.

If you hopped onto my blog to start, just keep clicking until you get back here but if you'd like to literally "hop across Canada" you can start at Michelle's blog.  If you came here from Arlene's blog you're on the right track.

Here is my project:

Does that look familiar?  It should.  I shared this 3-ring album during another Cross Canada Blog Hop.  I finally finished the inside!!!  I'm so excited about it because it turned out way better than what I pictured in my mind.  (Normally that ends up the other way!)  And, my kids love it.  (*Side note: If you watched the TV segment that my kids were on with me, you'll have seen some of this already!  Haven't seen it?  Just click on the photo titled "March Break TV Segment" on the sidebar.)

Take a look through the pages and then I'll explain what I did.

I cut my pages from various 8" mini album pages and then basically cut shapes from lots of different 8" pages as well as a few things from the sports themed pages.  I cut items in multiple colours and then went to work, placing them where I liked them.  I went searching for black embellishments and added them in as well.  It took longer than I thought, but I just left things laid out and came back to it when I could.  I used almost every single piece I cut out.

Now, hop on over to Sheri's blog and check out what she's created!

Happy Creating!

Cross Canada Hop: We're Getting "Krafty"!

Welcome to another Cross Canada Hop!  This month we're focusing on all the fabulous Kraft products Close To My Heart now sells.  You might see projects made with the Kraft Container, Ring Box, Pocket Album or 3-Ring Album.

If you came from Arlene's blog, you're on the right track.  If you would like to literally hop across our great county, start over at Michelle's blog.  You can keep going until you get back to where you started since this is a cyclical hop.

I used the 3-Ring Album for my project.  For some reason this was a hard one for me.  I kept thinking of all these ideas, but didn't have any photos to use.  Then I asked on my Facebook page and they came up with some really great ideas, including 10 years of wedded bliss since we just celebrated our 10th anniversary this past weekend, but I already had a project in mind for that one.  In the end, it was Michelle who juggled something in my brain and suggested a sports theme.  I realized I hadn't done anything with my kids' soccer photos from last year, so that's what I'm doing.  Here is my album cover:

The colours that most matched the kids' shirts was Honey and the photos have a lot of fun green colours, so I added in some Pear and Topiary, along with Black Glitter paper.  Everything but the SPARK banner were cut with Artbooking. The sports themed images are on pages 82 and 83 of the booklet.  Here are some more details:

The banner was an Artiste image.  I layered the letters and periods over it in Cricut Craft Room, then re-sized it to fit my project.  Then I cut a second banner to layer underneath it.  Isn't that glitter paper just awesome?!?

I want to highlight this banner.  I didn't have black sparkles so I just got my Sharpie and coloured some clear ones!  They're not as sparkly as they were before, but they really finish it off.

Now I can't wait to use Artbooking to make lots of 8x8 mini-album pages to go inside.  I will definitely post them when they're done.

Now, hop on over to Sheri's blog and check out what she made with the Ring Box!
